Atlanta, GA – World Pediatrics is thrilled to announce the appointment of Karin Douglas as the new Executive Director of Development for our Atlanta office. KD, as she is affectionately known by her colleagues, brings 25 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, organizational strategy, and leadership, making her an invaluable addition to our team.
KD has spent her career helping nonprofit organizations develop into thriving, sustainable enterprises. With a strategic approach to fundraising, board development, and executive coaching, she has built a reputation as a trusted advisor to philanthropic entities, corporate social responsibility teams, and nonprofit organizations.
Prior to joining World Pediatrics, KD served as Chief Partnerships Officer at Kids Alive International, leading holistic care initiatives for children and families in Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. Since moving to Atlanta in 2010, KD has contributed significantly to the nonprofit community. She served as executive coach for the Boys and Men of Color Executive Director Collaboration Circle, funded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and provided strategic planning and leadership development to organizations focused on STEM, visual arts, education, and community development.
In her new role at World Pediatrics, KD will oversee and lead fundraising efforts in the Atlanta market, focusing on events, building strategic partnerships and expanding the organization’s reach.
“KD’s extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, including her work with several Georgia-based foundations, uniquely positions her to elevate World Pediatrics’ presence in Metro Atlanta,” said Vafa Akhavan, CEO of World Pediatrics. “Her leadership will be key to expanding our impact and helping us reach even more children in need of advanced pediatric care.”
Beyond her professional work, KD frequently speaks at conferences, inspiring civic leaders to promote economically and socially prosperous communities. She has a special interest in food justice and serves on the boards of Georgia Center for Opportunity, Kingdom Journey, and Frontline Response.
World Pediatrics is excited to welcome Karin “KD” Douglas and looks forward to the partnerships she will foster as Atlanta’s Executive Director of Development.
