Raleigh, NC — October 27, 2025 — World Pediatrics is proud to announce the appointment of Nick Malinowski as Director of Development for the Triangle Chapter, continuing the organization’s momentum in North Carolina’s dynamic Research Triangle region.
With over twenty years of experience uniting people, resources, and strategy to remove barriers for children, Malinowski has devoted his career to creating equitable systems where every child can thrive. His leadership will further strengthen World Pediatrics’ growing network of supporters, medical volunteers, and partners across the Triangle—advancing the organization’s mission to heal more children, in less time, by transforming access to advanced pediatric healthcare.
“Nick’s track record of building bridges between sectors and aligning communities for lasting change makes him an ideal leader for our Triangle chapter,” said Vafa Akhavan, CEO of World Pediatrics. “His energy, experience, and heart for children will play a vital role as we expand our presence in North Carolina and deepen our global impact.”
Malinowski most recently served at RTI International, where he led national strategic planning efforts for nonprofits, school systems, and community coalitions—helping align vision, strategy, and funding for long-term success. He also spearheaded the development of Wake County’s Early Childhood Action Plan (ECAP), a collaborative initiative engaging hundreds of families, pediatricians, and partners to strengthen child and family well-being.
Previously, as Vice President of Partnerships, Evaluation, and Development at Durham Children’s Initiative, Malinowski helped guide one of North Carolina’s most comprehensive cradle-to-career pipelines, working closely with families, funders, and the Durham community. As Executive Director of Kidznotes, he led the music-for-social-change nonprofit through a period of major growth, amplifying the power of music to connect and empower youth across the region.
“Joining World Pediatrics feels like a full-circle moment,” said Malinowski. “I’ve spent my career connecting communities to opportunity. Now, I have the privilege of helping the Triangle connect to the world—ensuring that children everywhere can receive the care they deserve.”
A former Teach for America corps member, Malinowski began his career in rural Arkansas, where his students reinforced his belief that talent is universal, but opportunity is not. His journey—from classrooms to community coalitions—has been driven by the conviction that lasting change happens when people listen, collaborate, and take bold action together.
When he’s not championing kids, Malinowski can be found performing in musical theatre across the Triangle or traveling the world with his nine-year-old son.
World Pediatrics opened its Triangle office in 2023, marking its first new market in over a decade and expanding its reach into one of the nation’s most vibrant regions for medical innovation and philanthropy. From Raleigh to Durham to Chapel Hill, the Triangle continues to play a growing role in the organization’s global efforts to strengthen pediatric care systems across Latin America, the Caribbean, and beyond.
