Richmond, VA — In a significant stride towards advancing pediatric healthcare in Central and Lan America, Food For the Poor (FFTP) has pledged an investment of $30,000 to support World Pediatric Project (WPP). This collaboraon aims to extend specialized medical care and comprehensive assistance to vulnerable children from Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize, who require complex surgical intervenons beyond their home countries’ capabilities.
“All of us at Food For The Poor are delighted to collaborate with World Pediatric Project,” said FFTP President/CEO Ed Raine. “Our mission is to transform the lives of the poor and vulnerable. This collaborative effort enables us to provide critical medical care to children in Latin America facing complex health challenges and make a meaningful impact on their lives.”
The generous investment from FFTP facilitates WPP in assisting 3 to 6 children with critical medical challenges, such as spine, cardiac, craniofacial, and other pediatric surgical specialties. These children will travel to the United States or other countries where WPP has established partnerships to receive the specialized care they urgently require.
This collaboration further extends the impact of FFTP’s simultaneous commitment to the Latin America Sponsorship Program, involving a $23,400 investment to support a minimum of 30 Guatemalan children in the upcoming year. The support will be directed towards neurosurgical or other pediatric specialized surgeries at Juan Pablo II, along with mental health counseling. Notably, the Latin America Sponsorship Program is a pivotal component of the ongoing collaboration between FFTP and WPP.
“We are thrilled about working alongside with World Pediatric Project,” stated Karen Fisher, Benevolent Program Manager at FFTP. “This collaboration will extend our reach to bring hope and healing to children who might otherwise go without it.”
Through the combined efforts of FFTP and WPP, countless lives are set to be transformed. This collaborative initiative signifies a commitment to timely and effective healthcare interventions, reducing the suffering of vulnerable children and empowering them to live life to their fullest potential.
