A Night to Remember: Four-Year-Old Xaire’s Unforgettable Experience at The Richmond Flying Squirrels Game

Richmond, July 27, 2023 – The Richmond Flying Squirrels, in collaboration with Todd Parnell “Parney” and Ben Terry, CEO & Assistant General Manager of the team, and The Heart of Virginia Chevy Dealers, created an extraordinary and heartwarming evening for Xaire, a brave four-year-old from Antigua who is set to undergo cardiac surgery on August 7th at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. On July 27th, Xaire and his mother were warmly welcomed to Richmond, and the night turned into a cherished memory for them.

Xaire, accompanied by World Pediatric Project’s Richmond staff and their families, attended the Flying Squirrels game against the Portland Sea Dogs at The Diamond Stadium. The excitement in the air was palpable as the young boy, full of enthusiasm, experienced moments he will cherish forever.

The highlight of the night was when little Xaire had the honor of throwing out a first pitch at the game! The crowd erupted in cheer as he showcased his pitching talent. The mascots of the Richmond Flying Squirrels added to the joy by joining Xaire in making this moment even more special.

Thanks to the generosity of The Heart of Virginia Chevy Dealers, Xaire and his mom had the privilege of sitting in the front row at the “Rally Rail” section. He was also gifted a keepsake game ball and Go Nuts foam fingers, ensuring that Xaire’s night was filled with countless mementos to remember this extraordinary occasion.

The atmosphere was beautifully positive, and Xaire’s infectious excitement spread joy among the WPP staff and everyone around him. As the Flying Squirrels emerged victorious against the Portland Sea Dogs, the final fireworks display painted the sky with vibrant colors, creating the perfect ending to an already magical evening for Xaire and his mom, V.
