Members of the Chapter Boards and leadership team at World Pediatrics recently gathered in Honduras for one of the organization’s first Vision Trips.
Participants spent time seeing the work firsthand, including observing the scoliosis team in action, meeting the physicians and local teams delivering care, and gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges many children face in accessing advanced pediatric healthcare.
The visit also created space for strategic conversations focused on planning the next years of the organization, while strengthening alignment among World Pediatrics’ chapter boards as the organization continues working to heal more children, in less time, by transforming access to advanced pediatric healthcare.
The group included CEO Vafa Akhavan, Chief of Staff Ross Silkman, and Executive Directors of Development Alyssa McBride and Linda Boyland, along with Milagro Garel, Country Director for Belize, and strategy advisor Humberto Salicetti.
Chapter board leaders representing World Pediatrics chapters also participated: Patrick Duke (Richmond), Mary Pat Brown (St. Louis), Chad Holloway (Atlanta), Mayra Singh (Belize), and Jill Swisher (Triangle, NC).
A special thank you to the local Honduras team and the scoliosis surgical team for hosting and making this visit such a momentous occasion, allowing leaders to experience the impact of this work firsthand.
Experiences like these strengthen leadership and advocacy. By witnessing the impact firsthand, leaders return inspired to share the story of World Pediatrics and help expand access to life-changing care for more children around the world.
