Strengthening Neonatal Care
Each year, an estimated 2.3 million newborns die within their first month of life. The vast majority of these deaths occur in low-resource settings and stem from preventable causes such as infections, birth complications, prematurity and lack of access to timely medical interventions. What these tragedies often have in common is a critical gap: the absence of skilled providers and the systems needed to deliver essential care in those first fragile minutes, hours, and days of life.
At World Pediatrics, we take action to close this gap. Through our Global Neonatal Program, we train local healthcare professionals to deliver lifesaving care during the most critical moments of a newborn’s life. We equip them with the skills, tools, and confidence they need to respond quickly and effectively—because when seconds count, care can’t wait.
We partner with hospitals, ministries of health, and community organizations to strengthen neonatal care from the inside out. By strengthening local health systems and supporting a skilled workforce, World Pediatrics is helping communities not only save lives today, but improve health outcomes for generations to come, because when newborns survive and thrive, families are strengthened, communities grow, and the foundation for a healthier future is set in motion.
