The First

25 Years

A Quarter of a Century Changing Lives. Every year, 17 million lives are lost due to lack of access to surgery. Since 2001, we've been rewriting that history. Celebrate with us and help us secure the next 25 years.

For Joedi, a future was impossible. We made it possible.

Little Joedi was born in Belize with esophageal atresia, a condition that is fatal without proper surgery. With no pediatric surgeons in her country, time was running out. Our team acted immediately, transporting Joedi and her mother to the U.S. Thanks to Dr. Patty Lange and the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, Joedi received the life-saving surgery. Today, she is healthy and thriving. This is the kind of miracle your donation makes possible.

Leila smiles thanks to the help she received

If we didn’t have World Pediatrics’ support, I don’t think my daughter would be able to have the surgery. I would have to ask my brothers and my mother for money to try to gather something, but even then, it wouldn’t be enough to pay for a treatment like this. I’ve realized how much the foundation has truly helped my daughter. We are very happy and grateful for all the support we’ve received. Thank you to the doctors and the foundation. My whole family is happy with the process we’ve gone through, and thanks to God, everything has gone well.

The Brave Heart of Atreus

At just 14 months, Atreus has already shown what it means to be brave. Born with supravalvar aortic stenosis and sickle cell disease, he traveled from Saint Lucia with his mom, Sabitha, to St. Louis for care. After two blood transfusions, doctors performed a cardiac cath and then open-heart surgery with Dr. Corrine Tan. He’s now on the road to recovery, closely monitored before returning home soon.
